When I first met Tara through Diving with Purpose, I had already seen her on the cover of National Geographic and heard her amazing podcast series, Into the Depths. She calls herself a storyteller and that is very evident in her body of work. But for me she is also a modern griot. The African griot was one who kept the story of the community so that people would not forget the collective wisdom. What is beautiful about Tara is that in being so open to tell her own story, she holds up a mirror to the rest of us to more personally touch our shared history. She weaves together her life with that of others -some still living and others crossed over. I share more in this vlog and I hope that you will check in out.
